Experience
Thanks to my experience building niche websites for the last eight years and working at Bradley University’s Enterprise Program (web design and SEO agency) for two years, I am very comfortable with online marketing.
I dive into my specific experience below.
Table of Contents
Bradley University Enterprise Program
Within the Enterprise Program, I held two roles – Program Manager and Web Designer. Here’s what I did in each role:
Program Manager
- Interviewed and hired student employees from Bradley University
- Managed a team of employees by setting objectives and assessing work performance
- Communicated regularly with clients about deliverables and website progress
- Drafted project scopes, contracts, and transmittal forms for all projects
Web Designer
- Designed unique websites tailored to meet individual clients’ needs
- Helped clients launch or improve their social media profiles
- Created manuals to help support clients as they managed their finished websites
Web Design
I’ve created dozens of websites outside of my job with the Enterprise Program.
My foray into web design began with forum software and then WordPress in 2014. I have experience creating everything from static websites to full-blown social networks.
To illustrate my experience, I’ll provide two examples.
Example 1: Unrecompensed.com
Unrecompensed is a simple website where I upload free-to-use, CC0 photos I took. My main audience for this site is fellow web designers who need a specific photo for something.
Example 2: Stampcollectingspot.com
Stamp Collecting Spot is a social network (much like Facebook) for stamp collectors (philatelists).
This site also has a blog for which I wrote all of the articles, and many other features such as a Q&A section, a calendar of events, and a business directory.
Internet Marketing
I have dabbled in just about every form of internet marketing there is. SEO, PPC, content marketing, social media marketing, YouTube marketing, email marketing, influencer marketing, and so on.
My main focus is on SEO.
SEO
You may have seen this screenshot on the homepage, but I’ll share it again since it’s a good illustration of my SEO capabilities:
This is one of my websites. I wrote all the content myself (content marketing!). As you can see, this site has received over 1 million pageviews. It’s just over 4 years old.
The SEO landscape changes very frequently, mainly in response to Google algorithm updates.
Many SEO “best practices” from 5 years ago are becoming obsolete.
Therefore, I am constantly keeping up to date with SEO. To show that I still know how to rank websites in 2021, here’s a screenshot showing the traffic in the last 6 months to another niche site of mine:
This site went from 10-20 visits a day to 150-200 visits a day in less than 6 months. 90% of this traffic is from organic search (as opposed to social media or referrals from other sites).
Update: I recently sold this site for 5 figures in order to fund my other business ventures.
Bottom Line
As you can see from all the examples I provided, I know how to create websites, and I know how to bring visitors through SEO.
I did online marketing for my job at Bradley University, but I also do it as a hobby.
I love online marketing and am relentless in my pursuit of better methods and tangible results.
